If you've driven along Cypress Creek Road in Fort Lauderdale’s uptown business district, you've most likely encountered a number of white shuttle busses. For years, these shuttles have transported local employees from Tri-Rail to the office parks and office buildings in the area during morning and afternoon rush hour. What you may not realize, is that since March 17, 2014 the shuttles are also running between the hours of 10 and 3.
What you also may not realize is that you can ride these shuttles for free. The Uptown Link is a new "wave and ride" service with shuttles running along 2 routes every half hour weekdays between the hours of 10 and 3. When you see the shuttle, simply wave and hop aboard. The Uptown Link offers easy access to and from local restaurants, businesses, hotels, schools, and the Cypress Creek Tri-Rail Station.
Do you want to grab lunch without the hassle of finding a spot to park? Do you have a meeting in West Palm and need to get over to the tri-rail station? Just wave to your friendly Upton Link driver. The Uptown Link has two loops, both of which service Tri-Rail, Corporate Park at Cypress Creek and the shops and restaurants of Cypress Station and the new Uptown Centre on Andrews Avenue. The red loop also services Calvary Chapel and Brenner’s Cypress Commons to the west while the blue loop also services Radice Corporate Center to the east. According to Darlene Pfeiffer, Business Manager for the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Transportation and Mobility Department, the Uptown Link will help to take cars off the road and make it easier to park at area restaurants. Uptown Link has received funding for its initial year of operation. Darlene is working with Envision Uptown, a new organization working to create a mass transit and pedestrian-friendly live and work community in the Crypress Creek / Commercial Boulevard submarket of northern Fort Lauderdale. They are asking for everyone's help to increase ridership in order to have the grant renewed in March of 2015.
Brenner Real Estate Group, as members of Envision Uptown believes the Uptown Link is a good idea and will promote it through our blog. We also plan on posting a banner promoting Uptown Link at our Cypress Commons property at 1500 West Cypress Creek Road right next to our office space for lease sign.
Darlene and we at Brenner urge our friends and clients to try the Uptown Link and let us know what you think. We also ask that you stay tuned to the City’s website and our blog for new developments. In the works are discounts at area restaurants for Uptown Link riders. In addition, the city is investigating a GPS app to help riders plan their trips by pinpointing the locations of the shuttles.
