Brenner’s Melbourne, FL office welcomes a new Commercial Associate, Martha Scholz. Our Blog Team sat down with Martha to find out about her background.
Q: Why are you embarking on a career with Brenner Real Estate Group?
A: I was a tenant in a Brenner managed property for 11 years. The Brenner staff was more of a "partner" in my business than a landlord. The service that they provided, the responsiveness that they showed to me, convinced me that Brenner was a firm that I wanted to be associated with over the long term.
Q: What do you hope to accomplish in your new role?
A: Brenner's motto of right space, right place is exactly what I think that I can do to help my clients establish or grow their business. I want to personalize each transaction whether it's finding a tenant the best space, an investor a solid property, or helping a seller to make the best possible deal.
Q: What do you know about Melbourne, FL?
A: I have been a resident of the Melbourne area for 17 years. During the first five years I served as Vice President of Advancement at Florida Institute of Technology, a position that allowed me to interact with the Melbourne community at the highest levels. The next 11 years were spent creating and growing my own business (retail and wholesale golf equipment). During that time I have also served in a volunteer capacity with community organizations.
As the owner of a retail golf store I had the opportunity to market my business to the golf community throughout Brevard County. I built a database of customers that have a significant level of discretionary income that I hope to use to further my new career in commercial real estate.
Q: Where are you from?
A: I was born and raised in Quincy, IL, and am one of seven children.
Q: Tell us about your education and experience.
A: I have a BS from Western Illinois University and an MS from the University of Illinois, Springfield. Most of my professional life has been spent working in higher education working in the area of alumni relations, fund raising and marketing. I have worked in and directed capital campaigns that have raised over $1 billion for universities such as Washington University in St. Louis, Notre Dame University of Maryland, University of Maryland, and Florida Institute of Technology.
Q: Are you a go-getter? What do you regard as your best accomplishment?
A: My single greatest accomplishment is starting a business from scratch, growing that business despite serious economic challenges, and successfully marketing and selling my business after 11 years.
We welcome Martha and look forward to watching her make an impact for Brenner in Melbourne and the Space Coast business community!
